At The Savoy Collection we are passionate about the environment. We’re also acutely aware of the negative effects that the activities of our business can cause. We believe we have a responsibility to our community, our guests, employees and business partners. It’s something we take very seriously.
Our Commitment
The Savoy Collection is committed to reducing our environmental impact through better efficiencies of water and energy and reducing our waster and packaging. To do this, we continue to inform our guests, train our people and demand more of our partners.
We will achieve our goals, both locally and globally, by continually striving to improve our environmental practices in a range of areas throughout our hotels and restaurants. Items are returned to our suppliers or collected for recycling on a regular basis. For example:
Food waste is collected for composting
Paper, packaging, glass, cans, plastic bottles,
Used light bulbs and batteries, coffee cups,
Food containers,
We encourage our hotel guests to assist us in reducing their carbon footprint as much as they can during their time with us. Towels and linen will only be replaced if it is left in the bath or when a specific request to do so. Electricity is activated by a key card, so that lights and air conditioning is automatically turned off when they leave their room. To help us with recycling, separate bins are provided for materials that can and cannot be recycled. We also provide an express checkout service, where guests bills can be emailed to them rather than be printed on paper. We have also replaced newspapers and magazines with complimentary online versions. Finally when it comes to venturing outside and enjoying the many things to do in Limerick City, we always encourage our guests to explore the city on foot or using one of the bikes station just outside the hotel. Alternatively, there is an electric car charging point adjacent to the hotel, with a further 3 located in around the city.
We actively encourage all our employees to assist us in reducing their carbon footprint. For example, we contribute to the cycle to work scheme and provide safe and secure storage for their bikes. We also provide regular training in green policies, where our green team host monthly briefing sessions to all their colleagues. And we remind them to continue to adhere to our recycling policies and turn off all lights and air conditioning when they are not in use. We know that their great efforts benefit us all, which is why we also have incentives in place for departments that achieve their recycling targets.
We are proud and happy to support the best local artisan food producers whenever and wherever we can. However, we prefer to work with those suppliers that take sustainability as seriously as we do. That’s why we actively encourage each and every one of our fantastic suppliers to assist us in reducing their carbon footprint. They do this by either reducing their food packaging, reusing it where possible and recycling it when they are finished with it.
