A place very special to me

The George Hotel very kindly sponsor the Limerick Rose of Tralee festival and in March 2013 I was incredibly lucky to have been crowed the Limerick Rose. Representing Limerick at the Rose of Tralee meant that I was instantly propelled into a world of “rose duties”; events, lunches, dinners, fashion shows, launch parties to name a few. As many of these occasions were held at The George Hotel, I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know Jacinta, Altaf and all the team at the hotel.

With fabulous food, a city centre location and welcoming staff, The George Hotel has been the venue for all our family celebrations since 2013. When planning my hen party in August 2019, it seemed like an obvious choice to host the party at The George. My family and friends still talk about how much of a VIP reception we received over the weekend and were very impressed with the personalised cupcakes for each hen on check in! Fast forward another two months and my husband Alan decided to spend the night before our wedding with his friends and family at The George. It is so heart-warming to see photos of Alan and his family at The George in our wedding photo album. We even have a gorgeous photo of Alan and his family on the infamous escalator in the hotel lobby- a renowned rose photo location! Now, June 2021, we have just booked our daughter Hilary’s christening party at the hotel and I cannot wait to get back to the hotel, celebrate with my family and meet all the team again.

The George Hotel has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in the last eight years of my life and I would like to thank Jacinta, Altaf and all the team who have always made my family and I feel so welcome every time we visit the hotel. Looking back on the last eight years, I truly have made friends for life at The George Hotel and the staff will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am honored to have been asked to participate in the blog series for the hotel website (eight years after handing back the Limerick Rose sash and I still love having a little “rose duty” to uphold). I can’t wait to bring Hilary to the hotel when she gets older and share all the memories and stories with her. She might even participate in the Rose of Tralee festival herself and make her own memories at The George Hotel.. who knows?
